Custom Check

Why check your customs file before the declaration?

A customs declaration is built from your file: commercial invoice, packing list, transport document, proof of origin. A single missing or inconsistent piece of data can be enough to hold the goods, trigger a request for supporting documents or lead to a duty and VAT adjustment months later.

Checking the file upstream lets you fix these points while they are still easy to solve: an email to the supplier rather than a container stuck at the port.

What the free check detects

  • Missing essential information: country of origin, value, currency, quantity, weight, EORI, Incoterm.
  • Inconsistencies: net weight above gross weight, zero quantity or value, invoice total different from the sum of the lines.
  • Descriptions that are too vague (“parts”, “goods”, “gifts”) to identify the product.
  • The format of customs codes (HS, CN, TARIC), EORI numbers, customs offices and containers.
  • The documents expected for the operation: invoice, packing list, transport document, proof of origin.

A preparation tool, not an official validation

The checker applies deterministic rules and sends nothing to the authorities. It does not replace the analysis of a customs professional or the regulatory obligations that apply to your operation. In particular, a correctly formatted HS code is always flagged “to review”: only an analysis of the goods can confirm their classification.
